Kintsugi is the latest creation by choreographer Isabella Soupart, born from an innovative collaboration with drummer, composer, and producer Antoine Pierre/VAAGUE.
Inspired by the ancestral Japanese art of kintsugi, which involves repairing broken objects by highlighting their cracks with gold, this choreographic work explores themes of imperfection, asymmetry, and chaos. Dancer Elsa Tagawa, alternating with Marita Schwanke (Osaka), engages in a dialogue with the drummer, whose performance blends live acoustic drums, electronic elements, and sound samples. This musical interplay creates a palpable tension between minimalism and sonic explosion. Together, they weave a vibrant choreographic counterpoint, driven by explosive energy.
Choreographer Isabella Soupart and visual artist Caroline Le Méhauté present Tellus Project, a dance-installation-performance at the intersection of art and biology. Exploring environmental issues through matter, this duo is taking over the Centrale for contemporary art for a period of four months. As part of the Nocturnes, choreographer Isabella Soupart showcases a highlight of this project: a captivating dance solo performed by dancer/performer Elsa Tagawa. This solo, a true centerpiece of the experience, invites the audience to immerse themselves in a sensory and performative odyssey in constant evolution.
